Removeable wallpaper and wal decals

When you look at model homes, don't you just fall in love with the bold use of wallpaper and think to yourself, "If I could do this in my home it would look so professional".  If you tend to redecorate every 15 to 20 years, I say go for it.  Pick a pattern you love and wallpaper away.  If, like me, you like to redecorate every 5 minutes, it might be best to stick to removeable wallpaper and decals.  I especially love the idea that you can wallpaper in a house that you are renting and not have to live in a white box, or that you can give your childrens room a real fun personality that can easily change as they grow.  Check out the removeable paper at http://www.tempaperdesign.com/ and the custom graphics at wall http://www.dalidecals.com/ .  A quick search in google and you will find that there are quite a few companies getting into the groove with this cool product.  If you have used removeable paper or decals, send me your pictures and I will post them on my blog.

Picking Paint Colors

One of the most exciting things about paint is that it can be used to alter the architecture and mood of a room, at a very low cost.  The most difficult part of the process is deciding on the right color and whether to paint all walls the same color.  To lengthen a square room, paint one wall an alternate color.  To add width to a long, narrow room paint the end walls a dark color and the long walls a lighter color.  Reds, oranges, and yellows make a room feel "warm" while blues and greens will "cool" a room.  Painting a high ceiling a color will visually make it appear lower.  Because cool colors are more relaxing they are great for bedrooms, whereas warm colors work well in dining rooms and kitchens to stimulate conversation and appetite.
Do not be afraid to do whatever suits your lifestyle best because there are no rules when it comes to your personal space.  The only rule I have is to make sure you love it, and if you don't change it.
What is my next room going to be?  I'm thinking black.  I am inspired by Bill Compton's office on "True Blood" and Kris Jenner's home office on "Keeping up with the Kardashian's".
